Embracing Creativity Under the Summer Sun

Last month we introduced our team to you through our series “The Movetic Take” (read it here). It’s a fun look at what makes our creativity soar.

This month we’re going to throw on some shades and grab the sunscreen as we take a dive into what makes us all tick, especially in the heat of summer.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

My favorite summer activity is definitely surfing. Although the summer brings small waves and big crowds, its always nice to get out on a beautiful warm & sunny day with your buddies & enjoy the ocean.

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

This is a super tough question for me as it’s hard to say one artist that represents summer the most. I generally go with more upbeat & feel good music for these warm & sunny months and sometimes that is new music that comes out during the summer. If I had to pick at this very second, I would probably go with Anderson .Paak or Kaytranada as they always come with the positive vibes.

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

All of my favorite summer memories come from spending time with friends & family outside. Whether that be at the pool, on the beach, or just a good ole summer bbq.

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

So many brands come to mind but high-key I would say Modelo. Summer time is Modelo time and I fully embrace it on a very responsible level.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

– Jet Skis

– Travel & photography

– Concerts

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

– Lets just hit it with some local rock: Blink 182

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

– During my college years I taught surf lessons for the YMCA. There was nothing better than being outside, surfing, & hanging with you my best friends while teaching kids the art of surfing.

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

– Vans & Thrills

Both come to mind for their pursuit of paradise – whether riding motorcycles, skating bowls in Hawaii, or surfing with your best friends, they seek to explore and get outside in an edgy, creative, and fearless POV – that same way I like to attack Summer.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

Sunny, glassy surf sessions with friends. Still daydreaming of this morning’s as I write this.

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

The pop girlies are taking over this summer and I’m here for it. Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, need I say Taylor Swift yet again?

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

Two summers ago, my boyfriend JP & I traveled around Europe for 5 weeks. We hit London, Paris, Barcelona, Nice, Rome, Tuscany, Venice,  Amsterdam, and a couple spots around Switzerland. The iPhone memories have been hitting me in the nostalgia lately.

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

Rhythm. It’s my default answer whenever someone asks where something I’m wearing is from. I’m devoted.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

Swimming / floating in lakes and rivers while drinking good beer

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

Brijean (fun and funky tropical house)

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

Throwback memory. Going to our local amusement park in Pittsburgh, Kennywood, on the last day of school every year with my entire class. The best way to start the summer!

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

I think Sun Bum has always done a great job aligning themselves with the idea of sunshine at all times.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

Iced coffee on the beach with a book, 9 AM to sunset.

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

My 70s/80s summer playlist of curated artists (including but not limited to: Don Henley, 38 Special, ABBA)

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

Growing up, before and into high school, spending full days at the country club. (It’s not fancy like it sounds). I would pack a sandwich, some bananas, and power bars, get dropped off by my mom for an 8 AM tennis practice, swim in the pool for lunch, then head back to the courts until 7 PM. Monday through Friday, tennis tournaments on the weekends. I didn’t know it then, but those would be the best summers of my life.

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

Vacation Inc, no doubt.

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

Golfing, BBQing, going to a dog beach

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

Back on 74 Spotify song radio

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

Modelo, Yeti, Casamigos came to mind pretty quick

  1. What is your favorite summer activity?

Running and hiking—nothing beats the thrill of an early morning run with the sun. The sense of freedom, fresh air, and total immersion in nature is unbeatable. Once that’s done, chilling by or in the pool with an icy cold beverage is a must.

  1. What is an essential summer album or artist?

Anything by Jungle always gives me summer vibes. My current go-to from them is their latest album, Volcano. Its vibrant, groovy tracks set the perfect backdrop for summer adventures and chill sessions. Favorite tracks to get into that summer state of mind are “Back On 74” and “Dominoes.”

  1. What is your favorite summer memory?

Backpacking for miles in the Sierras near Reds Meadow with my wife and friends. We had a whole campsite and lake to ourselves since the roads were closed for the rest of the summer vacationers —fishing, relaxing, and enjoying nature for days on end. Pure bliss.

  1. Which brand in your opinion is the ultimate summer brand?

A couple of brands I love for summertime are REI for all-around gear, which gives me everything I need for outdoor adventures, and Vuori for stylish, comfortable activewear threads that are perfect for running, hiking, living, and lounging.
